Book a Session with Dr. Wendy

Hi, I’m Dr. Wendy.

I believe that we are all shaped by our unique journeys, and my own path has been defined by a deep commitment to service and connection. With over 20 years of experience in the Human Services field, I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals and families as they navigate life’s complexities. My background is enriched by my life as a retired military spouse, having navigated the unique challenges of living both overseas and across the United States. Additionally, I spent over a decade homeschooling my children, an experience that has given me firsthand insight into the importance of individualized support and growth.

My clinical approach is deeply relational and grounded in evidence-based models, including

Solution-Focused Family Therapy and Bowen Family Systems. I am passionate about helping

adolescents, couples, and families experience healing, strengthen emotional bonds, and create healthier relational patterns in a safe, compassionate therapeutic environment. I am honored to walk alongside you as you work toward healing and creating healthier, more fulfilling relational patterns.

“Life’s most beautiful moments are found in the connections we build and the grace we extend to one another.”

Military Life

Military families carry a particular kind of load. Deployments, reintegration, and the constant readiness to adapt take a real toll on marriages, parenting, and individual wellbeing. We provide therapy for service members, veterans, spouses, and children that honors the culture you live in and the stress it creates.

At The Walk of Life Counseling Center, we work with service members, veterans, spouses, and children navigating the realities that come with serving. That might look like a couple rebuilding connection after months apart, a spouse carrying the household alone and running low, a child struggling with another new school, or a veteran learning what life looks like on the other side of the uniform. We meet you without requiring you to explain the culture first.

Adolescence and Families

The teenage years reshape a family. The child who used to tell you everything now answers in single syllables. Conflict shows up over things that never used to matter, and parents who felt confident a few years ago find themselves guessing. None of this means something has gone wrong. It usually means a young person is doing exactly what adolescence asks of them, working out who they are separate from you, while the family system tries to find its new shape around that.

At The Walk of Life Counseling Center, we work with adolescents and the adults who love them. Teens come to us carrying anxiety, low mood, social pressure, academic stress, identity questions, grief, or the effects of experiences they have not yet told anyone about. We give them a space that is genuinely their own, where they are not managed or lectured, and where trust is built at their pace rather than ours. Parents are not shut out of that process. We help you understand what is happening developmentally, adjust how you connect and set limits, and stay close to your child without needing to control the outcome.

Sometimes the work is with the teen alone. Sometimes it is the whole family in the room, learning to talk to each other without the same argument taking over. Often it is both. Our telehealth model fits around school, practice, and the rest of a full calendar, and it removes one more thing you have to drive to. We also have weekend appointments!

You do not have to wait for a crisis to reach out. Getting support while things are hard but manageable is often what keeps them from becoming something bigger.
