Pre-Marital Counseling

Premarital counseling is a form of couples counseling that focuses on preparing partners for marriage. This form of counseling is specifically tailored to help couples discuss important issues that may affect their future marriage, from finances, to children, to roles in the relationship. Premarital counselors are trained to help couples identify potential areas of conflict that could disrupt their marriage’s harmony, in order to build a solid foundation for their life together.

At The Walk of Life Counseling Center we use the Prepare-Enrich premarital curriculum, one of the leading premarital resources available. Following an initial assessment, which is typically completed before the first session, your therapist will review your entire assessment with the two of you. Your assessment will cover many topics and the results are not pass/fail, but instead a window into where your strength and growth areas are as a couple. Over the course of 6 to 8 weeks, couples are guided through several important areas of their relationship over. There is also an option to request Christian Premarital Counseling with your therapist. This is strictly optional, but must be mentioned when scheduling your first appointment so you are assigned to the corresponding therapist.

With their premarital counselor, couples will explore their individual experiences, backgrounds, family dynamics, and expectations for their future marriage. The primary purpose of the premarital process is to help couples get on the “same page” about the future they would like to build together. Our premarital counseling sessions are engaging and include plenty of “homework” opportunities to complete in between sessions so you can practice what you are learning in session. As therapists who work with couples at all stages, we have found such great success in marriage that have invested their time and effort at the start of their marriage with premarital counseling.

Build a strong foundation to prepare for a thriving marriage.
